Church (in Ruins)

In the N side of a graveyard (CO148-020001-). This record is for the remains of the 18th-century Church of Ireland church which appears to be a rebuild of a late-medieval church (L 22.42m, Wth 9.82m) which was extensively repaired in 1721 (Brady 1863, vol. 1, 248). Of the earlier building, an ogee-headed window near the E end of the N wall and the exterior base batter to the E gable are evident features. The central W door, the large arched window opes in the N, E and S walls, the bellcote on the W gable and the chancel wall with large arched opening, are all of 18th-century date. Also of this date is the porch added to the W gable (L 3.65m, Wth 3.75m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
