Church (in ruins)

In NW quadrant of enclosure (LI044-036002-). Fragmentary ivy-clad remains of rectangular church (24m E-W; 6.3m N-S) of which only S and W walls, and short return of N wall (L c. 2m) now stand; E wall reduced of pile of rubble and N wall down to foundation level. Doorway near W end of S wall covered by wicker-centred arch; jambs of door surround survive but arch fallen. Slit window in centre of S wall missing its light; window near E end of S wall has square-set embrasure missing its top, and light missing its surround. Immediately E of latter is partially collapsed aumbry (Wth 0.72m; D 0.54m). Remains of late-medieval parish church of Glenmore or Strand (Westropp 1904-5, 405), known as Teampull na h-Inghine Baoith, which was reduced to its present condition in "great gale" of 1839 (OSL vol. 1, 28).
