Church (in Ruins)

Located on flat arable land with bog to the N and pasture land to the SE and W. Poorly preserved ruins of a rectangular church (ext. dims. 23m E-W; 9m N-S; wall T 1m) constructed of rubble limestone with dressed quoin stones. Only the E gable and portions of the E end of the N and S wallls survives, with wall footings elsewhere. Three lancet single light round headed windows on E gable with N and S lancet blocked up. Several putlog holes are the only other architectural features visible. In 1917 a local excavation of the church interior revealed the remains of 108 skeletons approximately 18 inches below the surface that were re-interred in St. Brochan's church Bracknagh (OF028-003002-). Possible door also revealed during excavation at W end of the S wall. (Milner 1964, 41-6).
