Church in Knockbrack (kilkeary Par.)

Unlocated church site within townland, mentioned in the OS field name books c. 1840 where it is described as the 'church of Ciara's fort. This is said to be the ancient name of Knockbrack or the spotted hill and it is said to be called abbey or monastery which once stood in it, but no trace of it is now to be found (O'Donovan et. al.). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002).
