Church in Kilnaseer

Church

What is recorded here

Unlocated church within townland that is described by Carrigan as 'The name signifies the Church of the Masons or Carpenters. The church, which served for a detached portion of the old parish of Aghaboe, stood in the 'Churchyard Field' of Kylenaseer, to the left of the road from Carrick Rock to Carrick Mill. No trace whatever of it now remains, but the site is marked by a small untilled plot, underneath an aged ash, in the centre of the field. Its present name is Kylebeg, or the little church. No interments have taken place here time out of mind' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 62). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007
