Church in Killoran (killoran Ed)

On a slight rise in flat grassland. The OS Letters (O’Flanagan 1927, Vol. 2, 114) refer to ‘an old burial ground [GA099-118001-], and two small stumps of the remains of an old church’. According to local information, this church was originally a barn that was used by the local landlord to thrash corn. It was subsequently converted to a church. The roof was thatched and it was said that one side of it was thatched by the people from the upper side of the parish and the other side by the lower parish. No visible surface trace of it survives.
