Church in Glebe (muskerry West By., Inchigeelagh Par.)

At centre of graveyard (CO081-015001-), partially ivy-clad ruin of Inchigeelagh parish church. Rectangular nave (int. 10m E-W; 5.6m N-S) with rectangular chancel (int. 4.3m N-S; 3.2m E-W) at E end, and 2-storey tower (int. 3m N-S; 1.8m E-W) at W end; small gabled vestry added to N side of chancel. Both N and S walls of nave have two windows with single pointed light; in centre of E wall of chancel, window with two pointed lights and trefoil overhead, framed by pointed hood moulding. Round-headed entrance door in N wall of tower. Built in 1814 in place of earlier church which became a ruin between 1639 and 1700 (Brady 1863, vol. 1, 119-20); vestry added in 1867,when church 'repaired and renovated' (Cole 1903, 56).
