According to Seán MacCarthaigh (I.T.A. Survey 1942) 'a little church' existed in Farranbrien 'on the old road from Lahern cross to Ballyfeard'; the site is marked by '"two sun-stones"' and 'a few hundred yards to the north east is a holy well'. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
