The precise location of Dunkepchy Church has not been identified within the townland of Dunkip. Westropp (1904-5, 432) recorded the following details about Dunkepchy Church; Dunkepchy Church belonged to Cromyth, 1291. Downekip, in Cosmaye, 1586 (C.S.P.I., 238) ; Downchippe, 1586 (Peyton, p. 233), granted to Col. H. St. Leger, July, 1667 (Act. Sett, xix Car. II., x. d.). O'Donovan identifies it with Dunaiced 1088-1090 (A.F.M.). Site -Now forgotten in the townland'.
