Church in Creggolympry North

Possible location of Litter parish church suggested by O'Shea (1947, 90). In woodland, at base of N-facing slope in flood plain of River Blackwater on demesne of Cregg Castle. According to O'Shea (ibid.), church was in 'E half of the lawn of the modern Cregg Castle...known locally as 'Abbey Field''; he noted at the SE corner 'remains of a building, one wall of which is 4 feet thick, 8 feet high and about 10 feet long [with] a narrow slit window'. Ruined walls noted but none which matched this account. Power (1932, 75) suggests location of Litter church in deserted settlement (CO035-061----) at Ballynoe.
