Church in Ballyheige

Teampall-Fo-Thoinn, the church under the waves, is the legendary church of Ballyheigue. According to local tradition, this church and burial ground was once an island in Ballyheigue Bay which was submerged by the sea. In severe weather conditions, the waves can be seen breaking into white foam at the supposed place of the church, and local fishermen say that in clear weather the ruins of the church can be seen below the waves.
