What is recorded here
One missed church and graveyard still shadow Ballygowan. Whether it served a valley family or a travelling faith, people buried their dead there and stopped coming. The land keeps the shape of that loss: a flat place where prayer stood, a hollow row of holes where bodies lay. Forgetting did not remove the church; it only took the name.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH & GRAVEYARD (unlocated). Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
