What is recorded here

Chûn Castle is a 16th-century artillery fort built by Sir Richard Grenville in response to fears of French invasion during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. It is one of the earliest examples of gun-based coastal defence in England and marks the beginning of a new era in military architecture.
