Cattle have trod the children's graves flat, but the set stones still mark east-west rows inside the oval bank. The ground has given up much of its shape, yet the pattern remains visible beneath the grass. There is no gate, rope or warning to stop a visitor walking through the burial place. The children are still there, waiting for adults to remember that seeing the stones means stopping before them.
On a hummock in grassland. Poorly preserved oval CBG (E-W 15m, NNW-SSE 9.5m) defined by a degraded earthen bank from NNW through N to E. No visible surface traces elsewhere. Within the interior, numerous set stones indicate graves oriented E-W. Many have been disturbed by cattle.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
