Childrens Burial Ground occupies the east sector of an early ecclesiastical enclosure in County Galway. An overgrown, irregular stretch measuring forty by twenty-seven and a half metres holds randomly placed set stones and rectangular plots that mark graves. The field wall may cover an older boundary, while the enclosure bank closes the east edge. Small bodies perhaps rested here beside sacred ground, forgotten until stones still break the grass.

In E sector of an early ecclesiastical enclosure (GA056-072002-). Irregular overgrown area (NNE-SSW 40m, WNW-ESE 27.5m) defined by a field wall, which may overlie an earlier wall along S, W and N sides, and by the bank of the enclosure at E. Within the interior, numerous randomly placed set stones, including a number of rectangular plots, indicate graves. Early Christian burial ground, 6th–9th century AD. Associated with a monastic site, it is significant as a rare example of a children’s burial area within an ecclesiastical enclosure, potentially indicating early Christian funerary practices or a smallpox-like epidemic.
