What is recorded here
Childrens Burial Ground is a vanished marker inside a Galway enclosure, recorded only on an old survey and lost beneath the grass. It may have held small bodies, waited for rain, or simply warned adults that some grief belongs to children alone.
Within an enclosure (GA056-065001-). Marked only on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map. No visible surface trace survies.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
