What is recorded here
Children died young in that place and were laid to rest within the ringfort. No stone or dip remains for them to point at, but the ground itself remembers the weight of small bodies and the grief of those who carried them. Forgetting the children is easier than carrying them, which is why the earth took them back without a mark.
Within a ringfort (GA058-034----). No visible surface trace survives.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
