Burial ground

What is recorded here

Childrens Burial Ground occupies the northeast quadrant of an early ecclesiastical enclosure in County Cork, Ireland. A tear-shaped stone scarp rings many north-south gravemarkers beside the central church remains and a low rectangular structure. The place still suggests a crowded sacred landscape where ordinary people laid their dead near the buildings they loved.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
