What is recorded here
Children's Burial Ground in County Cork, Ireland, appeared on an 1842 survey but heavy scrub now erases its boundaries. The land may still hold forgotten children, waiting beneath indifferent leaves for someone to remember them.
Marked 'Children's Burial Ground' on OS 6-inch map (1842). In scrub. Site indistinguishable due to heavy overgrowth.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
