What is recorded here
Childrens Burial Gd is a semicircular burial ground in County Cork, Ireland, where a low earthen bank and steep scarp still mark the edge of a forgotten pasture. The absence of grave markers and the heavy growth suggest time has swallowed the names of the dead, leaving only shape and soil to tell the story. It is the kind of place where loss becomes landscape, and memory depends on imagination to complete what the land no longer speaks.
In pasture. Semicircular area (10.4m N-S; 13.6m E-W) partially enclosed by low arc of earthen bank (H 0.4m) E->W and by straight field boundary; defined by scarp (H 1.2m) to N. No grave markers noted; heavily overgrown.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
