Children's burial ground in Laughil (longford By.)

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Children's bones surfaced during house foundation digging near Laughil, revealing a burial ground hidden beneath improved grassland overlooking the Kilcrow River. The sudden emergence of small skeletons amid ordinary construction work transformed a quiet rural field into a place where forgotten young lives still touch the present. What was buried there, when they died, and who tended them has not been recorded, but the ground itself remembers what people stopped repeating.
In improved grassland overlooking the Kilcrow River to the W. According to local information, this is the site of a possible children's burial ground. When the foundations of the house c. 10m to the NW were being dug the bones of children were uncovered. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 19 July 2023
