What is recorded here

Children died young in Derryhoyle More and went into the cashel, not onto the open field where dogs and ploughs could touch them. The landowner still calls it a children's burial ground, though no marker remains to name a single child. Several boulders have broken through the wall and fallen inward, as if the cashel were swallowing its own edge to keep the small bodies company in the dark.

Within the interior of a cashel (GA104-132----) that, according to the landowner, is regarded as a children's burial ground. No grave-markers are visible. Some boulders in the interior appear to be from the cashel wall. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 8 December 2017
