What is recorded here

Children's burial ground in Cranahurt, lisduff (kilmore Par., North Riding) is a children's burial ground in Cranahurt, lisduff (kilmore Par., North Riding), County Tipperary, Ireland. It occupies a north-facing slope of rising ground in an upland area. A story recorded in the OS Letters claims the ringfort interior buried unbaptised infants, but dense vegetation prevented examination of that claim.
Situated on a N-facing slope of rising ground in an upland area. According to the OS Letters the interior of the ringfort (TN026-043001) was used as a burial place for unbaptised infants (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 3, 121). It was impossible to examine the site interior due to the dense cover of vegetation. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
