Children's burial ground in Cashel (tirawley By.)

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Children died young in Cashel, and adults stacked stones beside the grass to mark the small graves. A larger square cairn stood west of the plot, watching the field like a silent guardian. The exact spot has been lost, but the shape remains: two small piles, one broad stone, and the certainty that love still arranges itself around loss.
This record is based on a reference in Aldridge (1969, 83-7) to a children’s burial ground in Cashel townland. He described it as consisting of ‘two small piles of stones on a slightly raised rectangular plot, with a larger square stone cairn [MA015-055002-] to the west." The exact location is unknown.
