What is recorded here
Carrowneden holds a children's burial ground beside its church and holy well, marking a place where young lives ended and community grief continued into the mid-20th century. The small size of the burial area makes the loss easier to imagine: not a distant statistic, but neighbourhood children, named in prayer and forgotten by wider history. The well nearby adds a layer of local belief, as if even water had a share in witnessing what the fields and church could not prevent.
Within a graveyard (MA092-019002-) which encloses a church (MA092-019001-). There is a holy well (MA092-019003-) located c. 30m to SE. According to local information, the graveyard was used as a children’s burial ground (MA092-019004), with burials continuing into the mid-20th century.
