Six grass-covered cairns, each about two metres across, still mark the interior of the cashel on a local prominance in Carrowkeeny. They identify the place as a children's burial ground, separating the dead from ordinary adult rows and giving the young their own small circle. The undulating landscape holds them without warning, inviting wonder rather than fear.
