Children's burial ground in Carrigafoyle

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Carrigafoyle holds a children's burial ground inside an old ringwork, still named Killeen by local memory. The earth may have swallowed infants before records existed, leaving behind a quiet danger that adults instinctively avoided. Even now the site resists ordinary explanation, preserving the vanished small bodies beneath a name that sounds like prayer.
According to Toal (1995, 213) the ringwork site here (KE002-042----) is locally thought to be a Killeen. Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 18 June 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
