What is recorded here
Carrigafoyle holds a children's burial ground inside an old ringwork, still named Killeen by local memory. The earth may have swallowed infants before records existed, leaving behind a quiet danger that adults instinctively avoided. Even now the site resists ordinary explanation, preserving the vanished small bodies beneath a name that sounds like prayer.
According to Toal (1995, 213) the ringwork site here (KE002-042----) is locally thought to be a Killeen.
