Children's burial ground in Annagh (tulla Upper By., Coolreagh Ed)

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Annagh holds a children's burial ground, though no visible marker remains to prove the claim. The land may have swallowed young lives during fever, famine or war, while adult memory preserved the tragedy. People may have avoided the spot, laid flowers there or simply forgot which field contained the dead. That uncertainty is not a flaw; it is the shape of Irish loss, where love and fear both retreat behind silence.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
