Cawdor Castle has stood in the Highland since the medieval era, its stones carrying at least eight centuries of breath, argument and memory. The building remains listed and protected, a marker of continuity rather than a forgotten ruin. People may have loved, feuded or simply sheltered from Scottish weather within those walls, giving the rock a pulse no map can capture.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Cawdor Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Cawdor Castle was built by the Clan Campbell in the 14th century and is best known for its association with Shakespeare's *Macbeth*. It remains an important historical and cultural site in Scottish heritage.
