Seven hundred and twenty-six metres of dark water-cut passage stretch beneath Ballymaglancy, where lesser horseshoe bats still fold themselves into the rock. The cave keeps its shape because it remains closed to most people, a living chamber rather than a display. What seems like emptiness is actually a crowded house, breathing in the black.
