One chamber, one tunnel, and a living person inside the chamber. The facts keep repeating that shape. The cave is a small underground room in County Clare. A narrow passage touches its entrance. The chamber may have held a person, a deity, or a memory. The tunnel may have let that presence touch the world above. The chamber is the actor. The tunnel is its reach. That is the whole story.

In the N sector of a cashel (CL010-015002-) and with a Man-made underground passage (CL010-015003-) built against its entrance. Labelled ‘Cave’ on the 1840 and 1916 editions of the OS 6-inch map. Described by Self (1980, 185) as, ‘a low narrow passage (19m long x 0.5m wide x 1m high).
