Castlemartin Medieval Field System

Strip Field System

What is recorded here

Muddy boots and stubborn oxen worked the narrow strips at Castlemartin, dividing a Pembrokeshire landscape into long ribbons of life. The medieval field system still lies beneath Pembrokeshire soil, a quiet grid of ancient labour. Those ribbons may have belonged to neighbours, tenants or proud local families, yet their names faded while the shape of their work remained.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Castlemartin Medieval Field System as Strip Field System from the Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
