Castle Meadow in Seskin, County Laois, held a Mountgarret castle that never seems to have housed a Mountgarret. Edmund Marum took it down early in the nineteenth century and removed even its foundations, leaving behind a meadow whose name still points to a building no longer there.

Unlocated castle within townland that is described by Carrigan as 'Seskin castle stood in the "Castle Meadow" in Seskin (Butler). It belonged to Lords Mountgarret but does not appear to have been at any time inhabited by any member of the Mountgarret family. Having ceased to be inhabited, it was taken down, in the early part of the 19th century, by Mr. Edmund Marum, of Seskin and even its foundations are now uprooted' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 310). Seskin Castle was held by the Lords Mountgarret in the medieval period, though it appears to have been uninhabited. It is remembered as a historical landmark associated with the Butler family, who were influential in the region.
