William Hamilton raised a plantation castle with a bawn and two flankers on a low hill beside Skeagh Lough Lower. The flankers later became part of a farmyard, but even those walls vanished. Nothing remains visible now except the memory of a strong house imposed on quiet Cavan ground.

According to Davies (1948a, 108) a plantation castle with a bawn and two flankers was built by William Hamilton on a low hill W of Skeagh Lough Lower and immediately SE of a 19th-century house and farmyard. The two flankers were incorporated into the farmyard structures, but these had been removed (ibid.). No features are visible now at ground level.
