Castle identity is missing. The largest available fact is that Rathsillagh Upper still has a large two-storey stone outbuilding, now a barn, with walls about a metre and a half thick. A castle may be buried inside that barn, not forgotten outside it.

An undated map of Rathsillagh (NLI Ms. 21.F. 35 (066)) includes the word 'castle' at the location of the present Rathsillagh House. A large two storied outbuilding (L 30m; Wth 15m) with substantial stone walls (av. T 1.5m), now used as a barn, may incorporate the remains of the castle (pers. comm. S. Hickey).
