Castle

Castle, unclassified

What is recorded here

O'brien's Bridge still carries the name of a castle no longer classified. That loss of identity is typical in County Clare, where bridge stones and river water have worn human memory smooth. The castle may have been a tower, a hall or a fortress, but the name preserves the claim that it stood.
