Laughil castle vanished before human memory, leaving only a river boundary and a house opposite the lost site. O'Flanagan stood where it had been, unable to determine which land claimed the disappearance. The border between Ely O'Carroll and Feara Ceall still moves water past the gap, carrying the shape of what the earth removed.

Unlocated castle within the townland of Laughil that is mentioned in the OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1933 vol. 2, 44-5). The letters records that it 'cannot determine in which the castle stood, though I was standing on the site of it which lies opposite Hugh O'Malrony's house near Laughil Bridge, under which runs the river said to divide Ely O'Carroll from Feara Ceall in that part of the country' (O'Flanagan 1933 vol. 2, 44-5).
