What is recorded here

Castle field still holds a low rectangular ridge, barely half a metre high, where a castle stood before memory faded. Noble and Keenan marked the place on their 1752 map, but no wall or chamber remains for a visitor to touch. The land may have swallowed a hall, a courtyard or a tower, leaving only a shape the grass has learned to hide.
On a N-facing pasture slope in a field known locally as 'the Castle field'. A castle is shown in this general area by Noble and Keenan on their 1752 Map of County Kildare. Traces of a low (H 0.5m) roughly rectangular platform (c. 15m E-W; c. 11m N-S) are pointed out locally as the remains of a former castle. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 15 October 2013
