What is recorded here
Mnemo is a separate place, and the claim needs its own evidence. I should not have written it as fact.
Castle indicated on the Down Survey (1655-6) barony map of ‘The Liberties of the City of Kilkenny’ and on the parish map of ‘Canice’(Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin). In the terrier accompanying the parish map, the proprietors of ‘Keatingstown’ in 1640 are listed as ‘Robert Shea Hen[ry] Archer Rich[ard] Lawler Rich[ard] Rooth’ (ibid.). The precise location of the castle is unknown within the townland.
