What is recorded here

Inchinleama still carries a castle name though no wall, room or gate has answered that claim since memory began. The river does not repeat the story, and the land offers no stone to test it. A castle may have stood there, or a castle may have been invented to make the border sound important. Either way, the name has done its work: it has kept a missing place alive.

There was a tradition of a castle at Inchinleama on the N bank of the W-E Blackwater River (Waters 1918, 35), but there is no contemporary documentation, and there is no knowledge of it now.
