Castle in Glenduff, County Offaly: lost before it was recorded. A castle is named in the townland, but no stones, ditches or gates remain for anyone to point at. What is left is a hole in the landscape where a building should be, large enough to swallow pride and small enough to fit inside one breath.

Unlocated castle within the townland of Glenduff that is mentioned in the nineteenth century OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 1, 76). According to the OS letters 'It is said that there was a castle in Glanduff townland but there are no remains of it now' (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 1, 76). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
