What is recorded here
That castle vanished before O'Donovan wrote it down, leaving only an iron gate, a house and a grave yard to mark its absence. It is not a hole in knowledge, but a shape of forgetting: the castle may still be under Crossoge, oldcourt or rathsallagh Demesne, waiting for someone to stop looking for walls and listen for the door.
O'Donovan (1838/40, 58) refers to a local tradition which stated that 'a castle stood formerly at the iron-gate at Mr. Hinche's house one side of this grave yard (WI014-002----)'. Not located.
