What is recorded here
Castle in Cloonybrien defies easy classification, leaving behind a shadow rather than a stone wall. It may have been a lordly seat, a military watchtower, or a private stronghold for a family whose name time has erased. The uncertainty does not diminish the castle; it sharpens the mystery. A place that cannot be pinned down resists forgetting, continuing to occupy the mind long after visible evidence has faded.
Reference to a castle (Cronin 1980, 117). Some speculation, but no location.
