Castle, unclassified in Cloonkerry, still belongs to Rickard Bourck according to the 1635 Strafford Inquisition. It may have stood as a small defensive house, a boundary marker or a forgotten residence. Its missing location preserves the danger of ownership: power can occupy what memory has abandoned.

This castle, with associated bawn (MA110-066001-), is listed in the 1635 Strafford Inquisition of Co. Mayo: 'Rickard Bourck -1 cartron and ¼ part of a ruineous castle and bawn in the qr of Clonekerry.' (O' Sullivan 1958, 57). Its exact location in the townland is unknown.
