What is recorded here
Castlecrine holds an unclassified castle, which means the stones refuse to fit one neat box. That much is written, but the shape of its life is no longer recorded. A chamber may have watched the valley, stored grain or hidden people during a bad season. The county kept the name while losing the exact function, which is not the same as never having existed.
