What is recorded here
No castle is certain in Ballyorley Lower or ballyorley Upper. The name may point to a missed castle, a replaced castle or a castle never properly recorded. What is missing is the castle itself, not the existence of the place.
A ruined castle at Ballyoctimore in Kilcormick parish in Gorey barony is listed in an index to the Civil Survey (1654-6) (Simington 1953, 30), but this is probably a mistake for Balliorlimore, and the school (WX021-022004-) may be intended.
