Clear water still moves past the ruined vault, but the castle has vanished beneath later bricks and river silt. What remains is a watermark of ownership, marked only in stone and name.

Medieval cut limestone with punch dressed surface from Ballyclare Castle now incorporated into the ruins of a post-medieval brick vaulted building standing on the banks of the Brosna River. Castle site may have been located on site of or in close proximity to the post-medieval vaulted building. Ballyclare Castle listed by De Renzy as a castle in Baile an Klar or Baile Clar along the Brosna River between Gallen and Ballysheil (Kerrigan 1998, 431).
