Ballyanchor Castle vanished after Irish rebels captured it in 1642 and shot its owner, Mr. Croker. Lord Broghil reported the bloodletting to his father, Sir Richard Boyle, the first Earl of Cork, but no trace of the walls has ever reappeared. The castle may still lie buried beneath Ballinanchor soil, waiting for someone stubborn enough to dig.

According to Power (1952, 34) Lord Broghil, the son of Sir Richard Boyle, the first Earl of Cork, reported to his father that the Irish rebels had captured Ballyanchor Castle in 1642 and shot Mr. Croker, its owner, There are no other references to this castle and it remains unlocated.
