Castle stands in Fiddown, County Kilkenny, a tower house built for the kind of people who believed stone could answer violence. Its walls may have shaken during storms or wars, but they still point upward like a finger waiting for an answer. Whatever lives inside the stones now, it has had centuries to learn patience.
