Desmond castle rose in Ballydivlin when the O Mahonys built it in 1495, marking the area as a place of local power. The structure still stood in 1844 before disappearing entirely from the surface. Its absence does not diminish the castle; it preserves the sudden violence of time, erasing stone and memory alike.

No visible surface trace. According to Lewis (1837, 180) called Desmond castle, which was built in 1495 by the O Mahonys. Structure still survived in 1844 (O Mahony 1909, 73).
